The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a popular trekking route in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is a relatively easy trek that can be completed in 5 days and offers stunning views of the Himalayan mountains, including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
The trek starts from Ulleri, which is a few hours’ drive from Pokhara, and passes through beautiful villages and forests before reaching Ghorepani, a small town located at an altitude of 2,874 meters. From Ghorepani, trekkers wake up early in the morning to hike up to Poon Hill, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
After enjoying the views from Poon Hill, trekkers return to Ghorepani and continue on to Tadapani and Ghandruk, two picturesque villages with traditional Nepalese architecture and culture. The trek ends in Ghandurk village.
Overall, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a great option for trekkers who want to experience the beauty of the Annapurna region without committing to a longer, more challenging trek. However, trekkers should still be prepared for some uphill hiking and variable weather conditions.
Upon arrival at Kathmandu (TIA) airport, you will be picked up by a representative office staff and transferred to your Hotel, after you rest and rooming around city at evening Trek briefing by your Guide.
The following day, early morning, we will be driving to Pokhara after a delicious breakfast. It will take us 7 to 8 hours to reach Pokhara on a four-wheeler. We will have our lunch at one of the stops that we will make on the 7 to 8-hour drive.
You can also choose to travel by flight to Pokhara, but we will not be covering any expenses of your flight fare. It will take you just 25 minutes to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu via flight.
Pokhara is a beautiful city located 200km west of Kathmandu. Also known as the city of lakes, Pokhara serves as a gateway to many trekking destinations, including the Mardi Himal Trek.
After you arrive in Pokhara, you will be dropped off at your hotel. You will be spending the night in Pokhara. We will take care of your accommodation as a part of the package, but everything else will be at your own expense.
After an early breakfast, you will be driven to Ulleri village then, start your trek to Ghorepani. The path goes through via local village with beautiful views of Mt. Dhulagiri and gorgeous hilly land scape. Trails take you inside beautiful Rhododendron forest and reaching at Ghorepani.
Today you will wake up early morning to Hike PoonHill for watch the sunrise over the Himalayas, the ranges of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Machhapuchre (Fishtail), Mt. Dhulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri and other snow cap mountains with golden colors.
After enjoying the views, you will trek back to Ghorepani for breakfast then continue on to Tadapani, a beautiful village inside Rhododendron forest.
Today you will trek to Ghandruk, a picturesque village with traditional Nepalese architecture and cultural. The Trails take you passes through beautiful forest and villages.
After lunch at Ghandruk, explore around village, visit Gurung cultural museum and drive back to Pokhara.
Best Time
The best time to go for the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is during the autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) seasons when the weather is clear and the views are stunning.
Note: This is Trekking route where you can do a Trek in all four season (Autumn, Spring, Winter and Monsoon).
How hard is the Ghorepani PoonHill Trek?
The PoonHill Trek, a easy trek in the Annapurna region, is an easy multi day trek that doesn’t require and prior mountaineering experience. However, it should be noted that the trek still demands physical effort due to the 3000 meters ascent that is accomplished over 2 5 days. This trek can also serve as a good acclimatization hike before attempting more challenging treks in the region.
Maximum/Minimum walk per day
We will walk at a comfortable pace of 4 to 6 hours to cover our daily distance of 8 to 10 km per day. Or program intends to divide the tour duration in such a way that, in addition to walking, we have enough time for sightseeing and rest.
This trek is really a comfortable journey that doesn’t involve difficult terrain like in other trekking tours of Nepal.
If you are traveling to Nepal for the first time, want to fully familiarize yourself with the diversity of Himalayan landscapes, walk through jungles and forests, and reach the highest mountains, you are on the right track.
This trek is considered the easiest and most accessible in Nepal, so beginners who lack confidence in their strength and altitude tolerance can sign up for this trek.
Most of the route runs along equipped trails, all overnight stays are in lodges with comfortable conditions. Therefore, it is also suitable for seniors and teenagers who enjoy sound health.
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, your departure, and drive to Pokhara and Ulleri, Ghandruk to Pokhara, we will use private vehicles (car, van, or tourist bus), the price of which is included in the participation fee.
Instead of driving all day from Kathmandu to Pokhara to Kathmandu, you can cover this distance through half an hour’s flight for which an additional price will be charged.
Regarding meals, we provide comfortable breakfasts in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Then at the start of the trekking journey, we offer breakfast, and dinner at our accommodation, and lunch at the lodge along the trail. You can have different types of eggs, pasta, soups, potatoes, pizza, and Nepali dish Dal-Bhat in the lodge.
Along the route, there will be mobile communications and 4G Internet in all places. To purchase a local SIM card, you will need a foreign passport and a 3×4 photo. Wi-Fi is available in every lodge and costs 100-300 rupees. In big cities, there is free internet in cafes. Charging is available in almost all lodges, charging cost can per device, price is 100-700 rupees.
Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Permit and a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Permit are needed for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. The cost and obtaining process are included in our participation fee.
